Hummus Recipe with Ground Beef and Onions

Hummus is a favorite around here.  We always have the ingredients to make this on hand. The 2 year old loves it too.  I understand that you can just make regular ole hummus and it’s good but when you add on seasoned ground beef and onions, it’s WAYYYYY better.

Hummus Recipe

Servings: 8 servings

Ingredients

Hummus

  • 1 15 oz can chickpeas, drained
  • 4 TBS tahini paste
  • 2 TBS Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 TBS lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
Ground Beef
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
Onion
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Brown 1 lb or ground beef. Once browned, stir in salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. Sit aside.
  2. While beef is browning, cut 1 large onion into a half moon. Thinly slice onions.
  3. Place 1 TBS EVOO into skillet over medium heat. Saute onions until they become translucent; about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.
  4. Place garbanzo beans, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, water and garlic, into a food processor and process until smooth, about 1 minute.
  5. To assemble dish, place hummus on plate and top with ground beef and onions. Sprinkle with paprika.
  6. Serve with pita bread or naan.
