With the kids back in school, you may be in need of a breakfast that will help get their behinds to the table from the smell of oatmeal with peaches done in the Instant Pot. Ok this may not get them anxious to get back to school BUT it will be a breakfast they may just love and you’ll be the champ because it took almost no time to prepare.
I chose to do this recipe PIP (pot in pot). That means you place an oven-safe bowl on top of the trivet that came with the Instant Pot. This really makes clean up super easy and with the possibility of leftovers, you can just cover the bowl with some plastic wrap or lid and place in the refrigerator for the next day.
This is how my Instant Pot looked. Again, as long as the bowl fits and is oven safe, it will be ok for this dish. But I may add, make sure the bowl is not tight around the inner pot because as the pot gets hot, it will almost impossible (but can be done) to get the bowl out and you’ll have to wait until it’s cooled down. Don’t be that person!
Try different fruit varieties with your oatmeal or top with some cinnamon and almonds. The possibilities are endless and with the Instant Pot, you can add the items and go do other things and not worry if the oatmeal is getting stuck to the bottom of the pan.
-
Begin by adding 2 cups of water to the bottom of the Instant Pot inner pot. On top of the water place the trivet that came with the pot.
-
Place your oven safe bowl on top of the trivet and add in rolled oats, water, peaches with juice and sugar.
-
Close the lid and seal. Click multigrain and adjust the time to 10 minutes.
-
When the timer beeps, do a quick release. You can add a splash of milk and extra sugar to top if you'd like.
I just got my instant pot in the mail and the manual says NOT to cook oatmeal in it because of foaming and sputtering that can occur?
And I did read that as well but as much as I had a small amount come out, it was hardly anything. The manual also says to not cook pasta and I do that too. The oatmeal worked great.
Even today, I love the artificial peach taste and a packet made with milk is complete comfort food for me. I even bought a box of it when Max was born and ate it once a day.
